And now - a word directly from Dottie!

Since I (Wendy) am the "poster" for Dottie - I decided to include some photos from our 2016 Clambake out on Cape Cod since this post is so close to the 4th.... Thanks for stopping by!

Just a note to say hello on this beautiful Sunday afternoon - Sunday July 5th.

This second round has seemed a bit easier and less eventful than the first four weeks. Although my energy level is not the same as it used to be, I felt pretty good after the first five to seven days after treatment. And best of all, the pain I did feel in my lower back is gone, which means the treatment is working!

I'm also learning what works better for me. For one thing, I make sure I drink my 80-plus-ounce water quota every day.  That seems to have made a big difference in that the more I am flushing out chemicals, the better.

The next infusion is July 13 and 14. This time we have it scheduled so that we can come home on Monday afternoon because I’ll be done earlier. Now that they know I am tolerating the immunotherapy, they can administer it at a faster rate. Once we learned that we were able to schedule Tuesday morning’s session a bit later so that we can drive down from home.

Gary has been so supportive through this all. Of course, he drives me everywhere.  He also makes sure I don’t overdo it and never complains when I need to rest.

I have to thank you for all your caring words and support. It means so much more than you can imagine. I’m sure I draw my strength from it all. The love I feel is so healing. It lifts my spirits and helps so much in navigating this journey. So thank you all so much to Joe and Wendy and Nikki and all the family for all their support - for fear of being cliché - it truly takes a village, or a sunshine squad!

Hugs to y’all. Dottie

Dottie, thank you for keeping us all informed of your progress with the good news that you are able to deal with the treatment more easily each time. Pat and I wish we were coser and could just 'pop in' for a brief chat! You are blessed to have the family around you and also the mountain family for support.

Sending y0u much love and healing thoughts xoxox

Thanks for the positive update, Dottie. (And Wendy for your technical support.)

Rick and I send you and Gary our love and best wishes. We know that the village germinates at home, and spreads far and wide.

Pat
